Description: This four days-long trek takes you in the area placed between Issyk-kul lake and Chong Kemin valley. The trek provides the travelers with picturesque scenery of Chong Kemin valley and great panorama of Issyk-Kul lake, snow capped peaks and mountain ranges, passes, fur tree forests and juniper groves.
Route: The route begins with drive to Chong Kemin valley located in the west of Kyungei Ala-Too range. Kyungei Ala Too is Kyrgyz for “mountains faced to the sun” and the climate is indeed warm and pleasant here. Here porters take over and carry personal luggage and camping gear for the trek through stunning mountain scenery. We trek trough conifer forest and across alpine meadows that are especially beautiful with a profusion of flowers and lush grass pastures. Several Golden Eagles have their home here along with other colorful bird and wild-life.
Grade: The tour is three days trekking on foot. Paths are generally in good shapes. Mountain pass is not technically difficult. The trek is porter-assisted, so you need to carry only a day pack with some of your belongings. Average walking time is around 5-6 hours per day. Daily altitude gain is about 500-800 m. You must be reasonably fit to attempt this trek.
Trek Crew: The trek is assisted by guide, cook and porters who carry camping gear for the trek.
