  According to a decree introduced by Kyrgyz government in 2012, nationals of the following countries enjoy visa free regime with Kyrgyzstan for up to 60 days: Australia; Armenia; Austria; Azerbaijan; Belarus; Belgium; Bahrain; Bosnia and Herzegovina; Brunei-Darussalam; Canada; Croatia; Cuba; Czech Republic; Denmark; Estonia; Finland; France; Georgia; Germany; Greece; Hungary; Iceland; Ireland; Japan; Italy; Kazakhstan; Kuwait; Latvia; Lithuania; Liechtenstein; Luxembourg; Malaysia (30 days); Malta; Moldova; Monaco; Mongolia; the Netherlands; New Zealand; North Korea; Norway; Poland; Portugal; Qatar; Russia; Saudi Arabia; Singapore; Slovakia; Slovenia; South Korea; Spain; Sweden; Switzerland; Tajikistan; Turkey (30 days); Ukraine (90 days); United Arab Emirates; United Kingdom; United States of America; Uzbekistan; Vatican City and Vietnam.

  The passport holders of the following countries can obtain a visa, valid for up to one month, from any Kyrgyz Consular Office, without an invitation - on the basis of a personal application: Albania; Andorra; Argentina; Brazil; Bulgaria; Chile; Cyprus; Indonesia; Israel; Macedonia; Mexico; Montenegro; Oman; Philippines; Romania; San Marino; Serbia; South Africa; Thailand; Venezuela.*

Please Note*

- Visa regulations within the CIS are liable to change at short notice.

- It is possible to obtain a 1 month Kyrgyz tourist visa on arrival to Bishkek Manas Airport.

- It is possible to receive a 1 month Kyrgyz tourist visa in Kazakhstan embassies and consulates worlwide providing a Letter of Invitation (LOI) registered with Kyrgyz MFA issued by Kyrgyzstan resident or company.

- It is now possible to travel in some regions of Kyrgyzstan with valid Kazakhstan multy entrance visa. These regions are: Issyk Kul region, Chui region and Talas region. Same ruled applied if you travel in Kazakhstan with Kyrgyzstan multy entrance visa, you can visit Djambul and Almaty administrative districts. This rule requires double entry visas and the first country to visit sould be the one which visa you have, in other words having Kazakh visa you should start your trip in Kazakhstan and then continue to Kyrgyzstan.

- Please note that the only legal places where you can cross the border is at a designated border crossing - which means that now it is NOT possible to follow the trekking routes over the mountains from Issyk-Kul to Almaty which were popular in Soviet times.

Entry/Exit stamps

  The only legal way to enter the Kyrgyz Republic is at a designated entry point. This means that it is no longer possible to trek over the border (from Almaty to Issyk Kul lake). Moreover, it is very important to receive a stamp in your passport at the border crossing point as proof of when and where you entered the country.

  If there are no officials in passport control or they claim not to have a stamp (both of which have been known to happen in the past) you should at least note the date, time and place where you crossed the border. It would also be helpful if you note the name and number of any official on duty.

  If you have some document - such as an airline ticket or a hotel receipt - which shows when you were in the other country - that might also help … but the stamp in the passport is the only sure way to avoid potential problems.

Border permits

  There are some certain territories in Kyrgyzstan that along with visa require a border permit. Border permit is issued by Visa department of Ministry of Internal Affairs and registered with Border Guard unit in Bishkek. Allow 14 or more work days for both departments. Please note we do not issue border permits to self guided groups and individuals due to increased injures and several deaths in Kyrgyz Tien Shan mountains.
